Local Cycling Events
There are fewer places in the UK that can compare with the wonderful (and challenging) scenery the Lake District has to offer for cyclists.
The notorious Fred Whitton Challenge takes in some of the most breathtaking ascents and descents over it's 112 mile route, with just short of 4,000 metres of climbing. If you prefer a less stressful day out on your road bike there are plenty of more 'civilised' sportive rides throughout the year.
There's no shortage of mountain bike trails and rides either, with the convenience of Grizedale Forest or Whinlatter, boasting the longest purpose-built mtb trails the Lake Dsitrict has to offer.
